Osteopathic Manual Therapy for Athletes

Move better. Recover well. Stay in the game.

Johngarret works with student, collegiate and elite athletes at every stage—from those managing an injury to athletes looking to improve mobility, recovery and performance. His individualized approach looks beyond where symptoms are showing up to identify restrictions and movement patterns that may be affecting the way an athlete trains, competes and recovers.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE INJURED TO BENEFIT

“I started working with Johngarret at Princeton Osteo for low back pain, and then suffered a devastating knee injury—a ruptured ACL, torn PCL and torn MCL. Over the next nine months, Johngarret worked with me throughout my recovery, helping me get my knee healthy and preparing my body for the physical demands of Division I lacrosse. What made the biggest difference was his ability to see the full picture. Eventually, I played ten full games without my brace, with real gains in my speed and lateral mobility. Most importantly, my confidence came all the way back.

I’m incredibly grateful for Johngarret’s guidance and for the foundation we’ve built as I prepare to compete at the Division I level.”

I saw Johngarret throughout my high school and collegiate athletic careers — he was an invaluable part of the team that prepared me to consistently perform my best at the D1 level. From maintenance work to immediate care after injury, Johngarret went out of his way to be available when I needed him the most. I met Johngarret when I experienced significant knee pain prior to matriculating to college. After just a few sessions, my body was back moving naturally and pain free, and we had developed a long-term strength and movement plan to mitigate future injury. If I still lived in the New Jersey area, I would be a regular — I miss his services dearly and am grateful that he was invested in keeping me ready to preform throughout my career.

" Boxing is hard on my shoulders and upper back. Johngarret works through the tightness by pumping and treatments. Once I started OMT, I felt less movement resistance  while fighting and my recovery process was much smoother.

" Playing hockey puts a lot of strain on my body, especially my hips and back. I could start to feel the wear and tear affecting my performance on the ice.  Johngarret understood what I needed as a player as he is a hockey player himself. We worked on the areas that needed help and he gave me exercises to do between sessions to keep the progress moving. My range of motion is much better and I feel stronger than ever on the ice.
